19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
